Fun & Games

Hope everyone's enjoying the 4 day weekend! Sale starts tmw but i will definitely not be going. Somehow a warm duvet sounds so much more inviting compared to crowded shops which will bring out my potential supermarket rage syndrome!

Bevo requested for a toy, the Bop It Extreme 2 game which i immediately scoffed and laughed at her supposed childishness. Nonetheless, i bought it (being the dutiful sister) but now i can't keep my hands off it. It is F-U-N. Still, i probably need a little more practice and the quickest reflexes a 20+ year old person can hope for. I strongly recommend this game, my friends. Mahjong is so last century, perhaps we can have an all-night bop it challenge soon!

Currently eating: Cheese & crackers, and a nice glass of wine. Over-indulgence is at its max today.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Call me crazy but I love cleaning

After a week at work, i came home to be welcomed (again) by the usual mess my slovenly sister leaves for me. Must have been the hormones, for i am usually well-tempered, however, i could hardly contain my rage as i (psych0) texted the named person asking her to please clean up after herself. [I have now earned the title mu lao hu from said sister's friends..=) ] For: 1) much as i love cleaning, messes invoke in me a sense of irritation and yes, rage. 2) i don't need unneccessary agro, especially not from 1 who understands me so well. But hey! isn't sisterhood a lifetime of mutual exasperation and provocation?

Anyway, i deep-cleaned my bathroom till it was gleaming and i can see through the shower-glass (no more lime-scale uh-huh). My OCD overwhelmed me and have cleaned up the kitchen as well. ha.

I really want:
a neat and tidy sister who loves cleaning more than me
new pj bottoms
the giant box of christmas chocolate from Hotel Chocolat
holiday in paris

Currently: Watching the final episode of X-Factor - these people who failed auditions previously and really cannot sing (bless them) are singing Earth Song - and i'm absolutely wetting myself as i watch it. It is seriously the most rendition of the song i have ever heard.

The All Important Noona

You know you're an important older sibling when you come home after a week and there's fungus growing in a fruit salad you've made 1 week ago for your sister. The salad's been eaten, BUT the bowl has yet to be washed.

Currently eating: Krispy Kremes, what else? Its sunday, people!

Who's that Hobo?

Had my week off, and it's over already! boo-hoo!

1. Denmark was lovely - all the christmas markets and decorations, warm hot chocolate, marzipan cakes (ooh yeah) and cute blondes...hee hee... Tivoli gardens was the best, we walked around for ages and ages, didn't actually go on many rides, but the christmas market was THE best (especially since the london one @ natural history museum was a huge dissapointment!). We did however, get stranded at the airport cos in our haste to get onto our flight ontime, car lights were left on and the car's battery died. AA had to come rescue us - their advert song "call my name, i'll be there" was stuck in my head all night long!

2. Cleared out more junk from my room - realised i had some really ah-lian shoes from the stoneage...eew... i actually wore platforms?!?
3. Went to Bicester Village and shopped like crazy! Done all my christmas shopping, and spent all my pay already. I believe i'm now in negative equity. Daddy! where are you?

4. Set up my puny fake christmas tree. I know..its small, its fake, there are no lights. Hey! its england ok, flats are small. and i'm never gonna get a real tree through the front door. we'll just have to make do. Merry Christmas everyone! x
5. Came home and found. deng-deng-DENG!!! WHO'S THAT HOBO MAN? what they do to beevo????

Sigh, so my holiday ends. Back to work tmw. Peace to the world... ...

Currently eating: Leftovers from overordering @ Peninsula. Somehow, soggy dimsum tastes pretty good when you're hungry and its cold and raining hail outside. Bleah.

After what seems like eternity, i now have a brand spanking new telly! woohoo! no more cheapskate tellys that break down in less than 6 months, but a respectable tv plus 5 YEAR GUARANTEE.. to top that off, also treated myself to a freeview digital box, so now i have a freaking 41 channels...hee hee hee...life is so good...

Overheard in our den

KIM
I NEED THESE BOOTS!!!

BEV
what? from where? how much?

KIM
TODS. its THE winter gommini boot with buckle. and its 775 dollars.

BEV
(pause)
wah so expensive...is it made from DODO bird hide???

KIM
hmm... dodo birds are birds..they have no hide.

You don't know what you're missing if you don't have sisters! Although, the naughty one is still out, and the 2 shrivelled old prunes (i.e bev and i) are at home drinking hot chocolate and eating oreos..at 7.30pm.. yes. we should go out more...

Illustrations...NOT

Lunch at Shanghai Bar proved more entertaining than tummy satisfying. Here's why...

Menus have been passed round, and we have sort of decided what we want. As usual, Bev tarries, and is indecisive..

BEV
hmm...shall i have the laksa..or this noodle thing shown on the picture..
Jie, what is it ah.

KIM
no idea..why don't you ask the waiter when he comes round.

BEV
can't decide...hmm...what do you think it is?

Waiter eventually comes round..

KIM
Give us 1 order of the agedashi tofu, and 1 malaysian curry and rice...

WAITER
erm...what number is that?

KIM
number???? what number???
oh..hang on..
(i have to check the menu!!!)

WAITER
So 1 J01, and 1 J02. (points to bev) you?

BEV
(pointing to the picture)
which dish is this?

WAITER
i donch know. but you cannot order by looking at the pictures. (pause)
becosh they are unreliable. sometimes what they cook inside (points to kitchen) does not look anything like the pictures. i donch want to dissa..dissapoinch you. (chuckles to himself for eternity)

Bev, H and I look at each other in bewilderment.

BEV
OH. (long pause) give me the chicken tonkatsu.

WAITER
what number is it ah?

... ... ...

KIM
(muttering under breath)
tian ah!

BEV & H
(hushed voices)
erm..he's chinese???

KIM
O.

September

An entire month has passed, and i've been internet-less in Kent. Don't know how people communicate - slow post? sigh~

Anyhoos..lots has happened...
  1. Still have yet to buy a new telly. I've been living soap-free for what seems like eternity.
  2. Scraped my baby (the car lah...maybe the real one next time) against a wall at Heathrow airport trying to wiggle out of a tight bend. She has a big ass like me i guess.
  3. Went for a spa weekend that was ooh-so-lovely. Although, we did spend most of our time eating, not spa-ing. Realised i'm also a closet Chablis alcoholic.
  4. Some idiot who couldn't park scraped my baby's front corner..some scratches. How annoying. Didn't even have the decency to leave a note. And @ hospital somemore. My fellow colleagues! whatever happened to probity!!!
  5. The SatNav that i wanted to buy is SOLD OUT! why can't people who work go shopping during the week. So unfair. I would have gotten 1 otherwise. Damn. It was on sale somemore.
  6. Exercise regime has gone kaput. HW was on leave. So it felt cruel to wake him up to go swimming at 630 with me every morning . Now, motivation has left me (FOR GOOD).
  7. The girls (Hil & Cel) wanted a Barbeque. So we got together a lastminute BBQ at the end of Autumn. It was goo-oo-ood. I, as usual, over-estimated what those 2 twigs can eat, and went meat crazy @ tesco. But it was worth it. I think i secretly like feeding people. haha.
  8. Dim-summed like never before. Including once with Jamie. It was raining cat-and-dogs. We ran for the car man. And HW as usual avoided a puddle to jump into an even bigger one. I'm so glad i wasn't the one wearing brand new leather shoes..BWA HAHAHAH
  9. My room in Kent smells of rat pee. There's a leaking spot in the ceiling and cos of the rain, the damp stinks like crazy. Convinced i'm going to die from Aspergillosis eventually.
  10. I've got a very unhappy bf at the moment. Please make him happy again. There's no room for 2 grumpy drs in a relationship. haha!

A weekend of eating

Since I have yet to be paid, my weekend's gastronomique has been kindly sponsored by the parents. (whom, i'm sure wonder why they have been unsuccessful in shaking me off financially till this day)

As usual, it had to be Peninsula on the way back from work..with the usual salted fish fried rice and the honey pork chops and the dou-miao...

Then, together with Kim, we went to Ten Ten Tei on Sat where the Agedashi tofu was brill and so was the stewed Mackeral, although why i ordered mackeral, i don't know since jack has dozens in the freezer waiting to be eaten.

Highlight of the weekend was Nouveauté. SCRUMPTILITIOUS, MOUTH-WATERING, LIP-SMACKING DAMN GOOD CHOCOLATE CAKE. Accompanied with my (full-fat) cafe latte, it was perfect. Although, as I found out the next day (i know..i'm sad), the cakes change daily, and they didn't have any! Boo-hoo.

Sunday lunch was spent at Royal China Club. As usual, it was pretty expensive, but the dimsum was good..and this time, the dover sole cheung fun wasn't fishy! I even had a chicken foot which tasted prety good! I guess they have to cover the cost of maintaining nice loos with Morton Brown handwash + lotion + proper towels...

All in all, it was a pretty good weekend...Back to work tomorrow!

Currently reading: Patricia Cornwall's Predator. I have no idea what's going on!!!

13 days

As i indulge myself with a box of Maison Fougere chocolates, and watch my "A Pillow case of mystery" cantonese drama, I feel the impending stress levels of the next 13 days of work without a break. Yes, I'm oncall next weekend... I fear the worse for my serotonin levels, and so i stock up on them now with brazilian orange, chocolate fudge cheesecake, zesty lemon mousse, caramel pudding, spice brulee, hazelnut praline ... ... ... Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining - i love my work, it's just the apprehension as i do this for the first time ... Breathe in, breathe out... Plus, it used to be worse not so long ago, so i guess we're luckier than our predecessors?

Currently digesting: Tummyfull of dim sum...enough msg for the next 13 days.

So Long, farewell

As July soon becomes August, it's also time for us to say our goodbyes and start a new chapter of our lives. No more sharing notes, makan fiestas, midnight movies or long-drawn osce-cum whinging sessions. 5 years have gone by quickly enough, and we'll soon reminisce about our good old uni days when we're all old and wrinkly at 65 - It sure seemed like yesterday when we all hopped onto the bandwagon for med school...

Amatto today - So much for dieting; they don't even have skinny milk. BAH!

Things to look forward to:
  1. Weddings and christenings?
  2. Actually earning our own keep
  3. A Lifetime of learning ...

Life seems so much simpler when you're still in school.

P.S I thought i saw danny carter from All blacks in Bangkok!!!

Weird dumplings

Accompanied by Squirt, after a long day of errands, we went to Din Tai Fung in the Paragon basement for dinner... Apart from the usual xiao long baos, we decided to try all the weird stuff on the menu... Like glutinous rice xiao long baos, multi-coloured steam cakes, and red bean paste xiao long bao things. Some looked strange, but still tasted pretty good.
Warning: Do not eat the red bean paste xiao long baos cold. It's disastrous.

Currently eating: Chili tapioca chips, mango jelly, and Hi-Chew grape sweets. I love going to the supermarket..Hee hee... $50 worth of snacks still waiting for me in the larder!!!

The power of dreams

I'm now a Honda convert, thanks to the boyfriend. But if only I had the MONEY, as well as the SKILL (to drive damn manual cars) I would set my eyes on the Type R. Alas, the "power of dreams" is not strong enough. Ha. I'm definitely still pro-automatic. I know at least i've got Laurie's support! (secret wink)

I guess we'll both be missing the Honda Motorshow though.

Currently eating: Chicken rice with lotsa chili...

Home

Back in (too) sunny singapore for a day and already i've finished a 20 part serial! tv is the best invention ever!!! of course, it also helps if you have a mother that conscientiously buys these dramas. my dad totally disapproves. ha.

Glad to say Squirt is still a very efficient "personal assistant" i.e slave. haha.. don't you just wish you had your very own Dobby? What shall i get her to do next? AHA - FOOT MASSAGE!

Eaten today already: Loads of un-nutritious snacks, chocolates (from 1 of squirt's admirer) big bento for lunch and gazillion cans of sarsi. its THAT hot.

You know you're an idiot when you think a clothes dryer is a treadmill machine

I'm an idiot. Yes, yes, just needed to remind myself of the fact once again.
Let me just set the scene for you -

(Bev and I waiting in car, whilst HW goes into Royal Margin for some take-out)

BEV
(eating her avalanche ice-cream from KFC)
Ya, this ice-cream not very good...McFlurry definitely better

KIM
(trying to hide in the car from Royal Margin waiter cos' just went there this afternoon, didn't want yet another restaurant to realise she's a take-out junkie)
Um...yah...leave me some to try...
AY, BEV! THAT WOMAN IS DAMN GOOD..SHE'S RUNNING ON THE TREADMILL ON HER BALCONY... HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!

BEV
what treadmill? huh?

KIM
there - that woman on her balcony, the 3rd floor..she just put her headband on...

BEV
(silence)
erm...what? hello, jie?

KIM
(thinks)
(thinks some more)
(realises she's got no brain + blind)
OH SHIT! she's hanging clothes, not preparing to run...

BEV
You're such an idiot!
(goes back to eating)

Kim laughing to herself hysterically, with Bev rolling her eyes...

BEV
It's not even funny lor...

Well, if you covered the height of the clothes dryer with the wall of the woman's balcony, then it sticks out like the handles of the treadmill, plus the woman looked like she was going to work out anyway...I'M SO LAME..urgh.

clothes dryers... bah.

This never happened before

I'm very sure, this never happened to me before
I met you and now I'm sure
This never happened before

Now I see, this is the way it's supposed to be
I met you and now I see
This is the way it should be

This is the way it should be, for lovers
They shouldn't go it alone
It's not so good when your on your own

So come to me, now we can be what we want to be
I love you and now I see
This is the way it should be
This is the way it should be

This is the way it should be, for lovers
They shouldn't go it aloneIt's not so good when your on your own

I'm very sure, this never happened to me before
I met you and now I'm sure

Phalaenopsis Phillippinensis

I have just acquired a new orchid, this time a nice white robust one... with a strong stem, unlike my purple one who seems to have a rather weak constitution. My baby bloomed another flower today and I am now awaiting expectantly for the other 2 buds to bloom too. Why they call this particular species Moth orchids baffles me.. do they resemble moths in any way? Anyhows, am trying out my new orchid fertiliser that i bought from the Windsor Seville Gardens..hope this wonder plant steroid concoction is worth the 5 quid for a miniature bottle!

27 June 2006

For 130.50 pounds...

Graduation Ball was yesterday, and to start things off, it was a wet and windy day. Fine. We can live with that. Then all the cab companies around my area went on strike and we couldn't get a single cab. Not 1. Zilch. There i was, panicking away, 5 of us standing by the road..flagging down NO cab. Fine. Luckily we've got Laurel. (Hee) Into the Polo we went. 5 of us plus Laurie. Definitely illegal. Packed like a tin of sardines about to explode...and the car was heavy (according to Laurie) haha..poor girl..cannot brake properly, nor could accelerate..

We eventually got there, unloaded ourselves (much to Laurel's delight!!!) and started our "glamourous" entrance to ... ... SHEPHERD'S HALL ... (its the hospital staff canteen btw) well, at least they tried...by moving all the tables to the side and hoping no one would notice..haha..."i would like 2 eggs.." muttered Chris, "..and a sausage" said I. Well, after all it is THE place for cheap oily-coronary causing-1000 calories fry-up...

Then, we had to take our year photo in the garden (which on a nice day is a brilliant idea) but on a wet, rainy day is certainly unenjoyable...plus walk across Westminster Bridge (still raining) to get our boat to Greenwich...

Finally things started picking up...wine and nibbles...the rain ceased once we got to Greenwich, the painted hall was beautiful...just when we got all excited...DAMN, didn't win any raffle prize...the risotto was crunchy..the apple torte was chao-da (burnt) and the shiraz was un-drinkable...couldn't they have gotten a good merlot instead?!?

Well, got tired of being hungry and indulged myself in the good company instead. It was nice chatting to everyone again especially since we've all been in hibernation for the past 1 month prior to the exams.. caught up with everyone i wanted to catch up with...oogled at all the nice dresses and shoes..bought an overpriced photo of us for 10 quid..(ok..it was a nice photo)...

The highlight of the evening was - SUPPER..heheh..we were kinda hungry ok...considering it was the first time i've ever had to eat crunchy rice crispy type risotto! wonton mee never tasted that good... then it was off to bed, or not for some...i guess food still is the centre of all singaporean friendships, no?

Too lazy to upload my photos from my (new) camera, or rather my geriatric computer cannot handle it...will just pinch the photos from christine for now..hee.

When delusions become overwhelming

It's a saturday morning, and 2 sisters lounge in the hall watching korean drama.
(music playing in the background, setting the scene, when the female lead comes into the field, taking photos of flowers) - yah yah, i know..

BK
Wah-lao, she's damn preety...

KK
I guess, in a demure sort of way

BK
Seriously, don't you think she's chio (means pretty)?

KK
Uh-huh...She reminds me of someone, but who? Can you think who?

Silence as we both stare at the actress taking photos of flowers (i know, it's sad)

BK

I know, ME LAH.

KK
(vomits uncontrollably, stares at her deluded sister, and suddenly loses the desire to continue with the film)

Chubbs and I

Chubbs and I go way back, and its really amazing how our friendship has stayed so strong. We hardly see each other (apart from when she flies in [not so] specially to see me) now that she's gone home and even then, our e-mail skills are non-existant, purely for the fact that we are both completely useless in replying promptly.

Still, we keep in touch in our erratic ways and have super conversations whenever we do. Over the years, we've dieted, pigged out, gossiped, insulted, encouraged, shopped together, (havn't yet dated the same guy), and argued...Its strange that even today, our relationship is still such a simple one from them long ago days, when we were yet filled will the cynisim and doubt of the world. It's great to know that some friendships never grow up, and i like it. Well, apart from the fact we still quarrel over who's eaten the most chocolate.

Anyhows, its Chubbs' birthday today so: HAVE A BLESSED BIRTHDAY, CHUBBS! LOVE YOU LOTS, GIRLDRIEND! XXX

Being British

"What does it mean to be British?" was a question one of the british papers posed to readers, and this is a reply a Swiss guy gave, quite apt, don't you think?

"Being British is about driving in a German car to an
Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home,
grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way,
to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows
on a Japanese TV. And the most British thing of all?

"Suspicion of anything foreign."

Currently eating: Supersaturated honey water - beats gargling with salt, and oh-so-good -yum-yum-yum Corne Port Royal chocolates courtesy of the Lees. Yes. I know, no more chocolates till the sore throat's better.

A Twig for a Gift

Something funny happened today and since B has already put up a post on it, im just gonna cut and paste it from her blog.

It was my sister's birthday last Monday and we celebrated by having the usual feast at Four Seasons. (Yum!) Happy belated birthday Jie! I know you want the world to know that you are now TWENTY-THREE! Heh heh.

Anyway, she received a package in the post today and was quite excited.

K
Oh look oh look oh look!
(White package grasped in hands and shaking uncontrollably)

B
What
(Extremely nonchalent)

K
Look what I got in the mail! Look what I got in the mail!
(Frantically waving miniscule white package and still shaking uncontrollably)

B
*Stops to look as the package is ripped open*

K
Oh.

*silence*

(Retrieves a twig from the package and appears a little confused)

B
Oh my gosh. Who on earth would want to give you a twig?!

K
*silence*
(Still looking confused)

B
I mean, erm, is that supposed to be some sort of 'dried pressed flower' or something?

K

*silence*

(still looking confused, but ruffles in the package for a note, then the voice erupts)

oooohHHHHHH!!!! It's my DRIED RIBENA CUTTING! REMEMBER LAST WEEK I TOLD YOU I WON A RIBENA COMPETITION AND THEY WERE GONNA GIVE ME A CUTTING?!!!!!! OH COOL OH COOL OH COOL!!!!!!! WHERE SHOULD I PUT IT!!!!

B
Oh. (Dry laughter)

I was just thinking that you must be quite a sad person, to have have such a sad friend, who would think that by giving a branch, he would really make your day. Hahaha. Oh welll.... I guess not.

K
*rolls eyes*
Yeah la, nobody could be sadder than you la.
(starts to laugh in mirth at her good fortune of actually winning a competition for once)

So yes jie, congratulations. You won a Ribena branch cutting.

Hungry all the time

I can't seem to shake off my constant hunger. This is something that has plagued me for years. Now that i'm slowly approaching old age, i realised that if i don't do something about it now, i'm gonna end up as one of those super obese old ladies all hunched up in a chair in a care home, bugging the nurses when teatime would be, when i'd just had my dinner or something... Anyhows, i'd thought my healthy eating regime was going all so well, with my nettle tea and cod liver oil pills, when my clinical partner rudely reminded me: How to be slim when you are eating all the time??? Then i realised that it was indeed true. That day we had the conversation, I had polished off a box of special K + 1L of milk (skimmed, mind you) and 1 mars bar ("giant", according to Terri), plus a few random biscuits on top of my 3 meals which probably consisted of more than my daily requirements of 2000 calories...
The question is, how do you not eat when you are truly hungry??? PRAY TELL!!!

Currently eating: Walkers Prawn Cocktail Crisps and Aero chocolate.
Currently reading: One Shot by Lee Child - its an american thriller, and is rather addictive!

Panic

my sister just asked me what dumping syndrome was...??? do we really have to know such stuff? in the end just mumbled something like it happens after gastric surgery...hell, i didn't even know what the incidence or treatment was...bleah...feel like shit.

Currently eating: Ben & Jerry's "Oh My! Apple Pie!" Its damn good, especially when you're stuck at home waiting for the boiler man who's probably not gonna come. Sigh.

Chocolate disaster

Came home relatively early and decided to treat myself to 0 work and loads of telly and snacking. Thus, even went to tesco to get ingredients for a chocolate torte. Couldn't find the recipe sarah gave me, so had to settle for a cookbook one and made my own modifications... was stirring in 300g of melted chocolate and left it standing on the kitchen counter to cool..said to the sister - don't you spill it!!! it'll take eternity to clean-up! (as it is, coming home after 1 week in dartford, the flat is an absolute sty, with bags and bags of trash, and a sinkful of dirty dishes! MAN, i've just spent 30 mins washing up!!!) as bad things always happen to ME - she did indeed spill it, so we had a kitchen floor full of chocolate gunk..man, was it all over the place, like we had some huge shit explosion..haha. (ok, not funny). at least it was the little sister that did it, so she helped clean up...if it was the B, then man...wait long long...THE COOKIE DOUGH STAINS FROM LAST WEEK ARE STILL STUCK ON THE FLOOR AND IT HAS NOT BEEN MOPPED!!! i'm still waiting for you to clean up, B... The urges i get sometimes to microwave my own sister...DING!

I smell my chocolate torte, gonna stuff my face now.

I'm dating a doctor

Nope, havn't changed the beau, but the existing one has passed his finals! Yay! When he called to tell me the news, it was as though i'd passed mine! Man...i've barely even started my revision, less the exam! Anyhoos, i'm slightly more motivated to work now. How long this will last, who knows. Last raincheck, i'd only read for 10 mins, watched 3.5 hrs of telly, and gone to bed at 9pm... ... ...

26 March 2006

There is a higher throne..

Hear Heaven's voices sing,
their thunderous anthem rings;
through emerald courts and sapphire skies,
their praises rise.
All glory, wisdom, power,
strength, thanks and honor are
to God, our King who reigns on high
forever more.

If only I was packing for a beach vacation

I'm packing my bags once again..nope, not running away from home, but for my 8-week attachment in Dartford. Sigh. Staying at home would have been so much more convenient, especially with regards to revision (as soon as i am able to start). Please pray for me!!!

Met up with Chubbs for lunch. She bloody forgot about changing the clocks forwards! Luckily I remembered that she mightn't have remembered and called to check... Some things really don't change, ay chubbs?

I wanna go on holiday, not some DGH..grr...

Back to tedious packin...

Karintou

Sister went to Japan Centre yesterday and came home with loads (and loads and loads) of goodies. One of the snacks totally looks like dried up doggie poo...tried it and its actualy quite nice. Not sure what it is though. Heh - just wondered how my guests would react if i left some lying around in prominent places..haha...maybe the hallway or on the sofa!!!

Old Habits Die Hard

Well, as they say, old habits die hard. How true that is... With my spanking brand new flat screen telly, I've been sat in front of the box non-stop for the past 2 weeks. Sadly, my addictions have kicked in again - Eastenders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Corrie, even Neighbours. Laurie will be so dissapointed in me! My couch has once again been moulded to the shape of my vegetating ass. As a result, stress level = 0. I think that's a bad thing, considering that everyone else is stressed out of their eyeballs!!! (especially Xu? - that woman certainly can nag...) I;ve even been walking around thinking its the 14th of March!

Had a haircut finally, no longer walking around with the end of a broom on my head. Although, having said that, hair's a bit too purple and assymetrical for my liking. Do you know how badly it sticks out in the morning? I wake up and look in the mirror and I'm reminded of Bert from sesame street with his tuft of standing up hair!!! Bev had a good laugh that day. She went hysterical. But seriously, it was hilarious. The joys i bring to people *smug smile*

Yay, the bf's exams are over this week! Maybe i'll get some (well-deserved)attention, after being cruelly ignored for the past month!!!

P.S Happy Birthday Laurie! You're now whopping 24 years of age!!! xxx

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have a great valentine's day everyone! I'm afraid its all you're gonna get from me!

Kimmie Gastronomic Review - Cafe Des Amis

GHW took me to this french restaurant over the weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there. Located in a small lane off Long Acre in Covent Garden, this recently refurbished restaurant is definitely one i would recommend to my friends. The ambience was divine, and the food much to be talked about. The scallops parisienne were seared to perfection, and the wild seabass i had (though the portion a tad small) boasted quality and taste. i then had crepes suzette for dessert, and though it was nothing to shout about, the orange sauce was perfect in topping off this delicious meal. Also, if you are a wine drinker, their wine list was rather extensive indeed! The only thing that didn't get me too excited about was their 15% gratuity, which, to poor students like us, was a rather neat sum indeed. (maybe i should do some waitressing?) It was definitely a nice night out, and maybe you should give this restaurant a go the next time you're in the area!

Trust and Obey

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share
But our toil He doth richly repay
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown nor a cross
But is blest if we trust and obey

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey

Wicked Welsh Weekend

Had a good time in wales, although we didn't seem to do much (myself at least). although, saying that, we did eat quite a fair amount! white water rafting was not as exhilarating as i'd expected but it was fun non the least. we didn't have time to do much after that... did get into an accident (luckily i wasn't in the death seat..heh heh) but through the pure skill of the van driver (AND LAURIE!) it was really very minor. now, i need a holiday!

12 January 2006

A-choo!

I'm still nursing my cold. I feel miserable. Why can't someone come up with a cure???

11 January 2006

War

My telly has waged war on me. It has broken down. On purpose might i add. Unfortunately, i'm still addicted to telly and in desperate need of some entertainment now!!! All these DVDs that i've rented, and the korean dramas that we've lugged all the way back. This is unacceptable! Figured i'll try and fix the damn thing myself. I think i've failed. Miserably. Can't even find the fuse!!! Now my sisters blame me....This sucks. Anyone know where the fuse in a telly is???

I've also developed some sort of amnesia... can't find anything these days...first it was my pencil-case, then my oyster card, now its my swimsuit. what ever's the matter with me??? argh.

I'M BORED!!! the only thing my boyfriend can tell me is = go study. precisely why i don't want to do anything today that's why...boys. (rolls my eyes).
