Takeout Junkie

You know you are definitely a takeout junkie when:

  1. You call and before you give them your name and address, restaurants and takeout parlours have already caller-IDed you and know exactly who you are, and what you want to order.
  2. Chinese takeaway place knows that you keep coming back week after week ordering the same old sam-siew fan (with soy chicken, NOT duck) that they don't even bother trying to attract future custom with free keropok anymore.
  3. Delivery man thinks you are now his friend and tries to make conversation each time but really, all you want is to eat your food.
and the latest realisation when

4. Today, when you receive a text message informing you that you are a valued customer at
[so-and-so] pizza place and that you can order your favourite pizza at a special price.

Currently doing: what else? waiting for my takeout.

Choco-monster

Chocolates sitting at my doorstep always makes me happy. =) Especially interesting ones.

Try these Chocolates to Chill. They are simply divine... Mmm...

Currently doing: Trying to stay awake. My half-week of twilight shifts are transitioning to proper nights tmw. Gotta get that body clock right. Gotta!

hidden supermarket treasure

I'm not one for spicy food, but i do like a neat, mild malaysian chicken curry. Considering the circumstances of not having fresh spices or my own curry plant growing in the garden, or the lack of fresh coconut milk makes making curry from scratch a little difficult to say the least.

Anyhow, here's when Mr Brahim comes in useful. You wouldn't dare to use ready made pastes if you were living back home, but when you're here in england (and desperate for a chicken curry), i say, you are more than allowed.

In 5 easy steps, dinner couldn't have been easier.
  1. Find a pot.
  2. Throw in chicken, puds and terrific-oh-so-life-saving paste
  3. Add 2 cups water
  4. Bring to boil then simmer until curry is thick
  5. Dinner is ready - you may stuff your face.
And of course, you have to thank your parents for bringing it over.

Currently doing: Eating left-over curry for breakfast and enjoying the morning sun. Today the weather is bootiful!

Tick-tick-tock

I go back to work tmw, and start it by being on-call every day till next wednesday. How is that possible???

Currently doing:
Enjoying the last of my short-lived regained "student" lifestyle of bua-long-longing and what best to complement it with a nice slice (or 2) of strawberry cheesecake, which, also happens to contain 400 calories per slice. Oh my life.

Baking for Idiots

The simplest cake recipe ever on earth and probably has never failed.
Remember the 100 rule, and that's that.

Raisin Cake
100g flour
100g sugar
100g butter
100g raisins (alcoholics can soak raisins in amaretto)
and 2 eggs..erm, it's aga aga 100g lah.

Mix flour, sugar, butter and eggs together till smooth.
Add in raisins and stir.
Stick in pre-heated oven (220 degress celcius) for 20 mins or until golden brown.
Cake is ready to be eaten.
Yum.

Currently eating: Above said cake and a nice cuppa. O-o-h.

Shock & Horror

Today I had breakfast. A fresh hotdog roll, with a succulent jumbo Herta frankfurter, topped with ketchup and mustard. It was fantastic.

Then i looked at the nutritional info.

1 jumbo frankfurter contains a freaking 254 calories. and 22.5 g of fat!!!

Crap! i'd rather drink 3 glasses of rose.

P.S don't get me wrong, i'm not an alcoholic. but surely 1 frankfurter does not give that much satisfaction to cost that much.

P.P.S. GHW can have the other 3 frankfurters in the pack. I'm so off them now.

Currently thinking: Lunch will have to consist of broiled chickpeas to compensate for breakfast. Either that, i could go shopping for clothes 1 size bigger.

In response to myself - HEALTHY EATING SUCKS!

Alongside fellow greedy pigs, i indulged in a sushi buffet. it feels oh-so-good to stuff my face silly.
Havn't been to Hi! Sushi in ages, and missing Alvin, our best buffet performer, i must say our performance has hit an all-time low.

Although, once we were there, we were again reminded why we have excluded this restaurant from our food repetoire since 2002. Just how many people can you squeeze in a teeny table???

Currently doing: Attempting to read more Paedatrics but have obviously failed just now.
