3 weeks have indeed gone past really quickly! the 3 things that i learnt in my first week here still applies:
- I attract alot of attention being a foreigner
- Toilet roll is the most expensive commodity ($ 1.50 per roll!!!)
- Expect the unexpected!
just had a week long of surgery, which was rather enjoyable ( to my surprise). the surgeons are really friendly, and teaching is great. i must say though i desperately need some revision in my head and neck anatomy. scrubs are 1 of a kind. they are so long, they go right down to my knees, and come with really high necks as well. caps, shoe covers and masks are all made from cloth and everything here seems to be reusable!
Apart from still being constipated, i had a really good weekend in mamalipuram (beachy touristy place). shopping was fantastic, altho i still managed to get ketoked. my only consolation is that my friends definitely did not barter as well as i did! no more shopping for me!!! bought loads of (useless) things which i will probably never use once i leave india, but it was good fun all the same. had muesli (in india!!!) which was more like a fruit salad, and crepes which were as good as i'll ever get them here. managed, however to get 20 mosquito bites whilst asleep which i'm sure was quite easily preventable had the manager given us the insect room repellant the night before, instead of the next morning!
so far, have not had a crisis with the loos, but i have probably jinxed it now!!! ( i still carry bog-roll in my handbag). trying to book a hotel this weekend - is it too much to ask for a western toilet and modern showers (not hand pumps) ???
